This blog post describes the content of the video, which you can see below:
In this video, we wake up to a whole new (foggy) world and decide to drive to the island of Sommarøy. We love this spot, recommended to us by a lady in Tromsø and afterwards, we want to take the ferry to Senja, where our van life friends are already at. But there isn’t a ferry?
Sommarøy
Sommarøy is a lovely island near Tromsø. The island was recommended to us by a lady in Tromsø, who said the beaches are amazing there. It’s actually one of three islands, all connected with bridges, showing off clear waters and dramatic coastlines.

While the weather is still bad when we arrive, we have a chill evening chatting in the camper with Jan and Emma, who we just met a few days ago in Tromsø. Luckily the sky clears up, and the next morning is a beautiful day to see more of these islands. Marten decides to take out the drone we just bought to see Sommarøy from the sky and play with the new toy.

We filmed a Q&A in horrible weather, where you could hear the rain ticking on the camper the whole time, and Natalie had already started editing it. But with the amazing turn in the weather, we just had to redo it and film it again on Thursday afternoon, to go up on Friday…

While Natalie edited the whole afternoon and evening Marten enjoyed himself again with the drone and made sure Natalie had everything she needed to edit. In the evening, as the sun was about to go down, Marten dragged Natalie outside for a short hike. Since this was the first time we really could see the sun go down again after months of living under the midnight sun.

The next morning we finished editing the video and then went in line for the ferry to Senja. Earlier, Jan and Emma had already crossed over to the famous island. The ferry from Sommarøy to Senja only takes 30 minutes, while driving around takes over 4 hours, so taking the ferry was an easy choice.

Unfortunately, the ferry had a technical error, and after hours of waiting, it turned out that there wouldn’t be a ferry at all that day or tomorrow. And so well in the evening, we decided to turn around and drive the long way anyway. We drove about 1,5 hours before we got too tired and slept in a beautiful spot near a lake.

The next day we slept in and then continued our drive to Senja, where Jan and Emma had already moved to another spot for the night. We are so happy when we finally get to reunite. We were really tired after all the commotion and two chill days, just enjoying the stunning nature of Senja.
