Avignon
In this video, we start at the campground at Avignon, where we have a chill day doing laundry and giving a business presentation for Digitalie.
The next day we take the ferry across the river to Avignon. While on the water, we see the famous bridge of Avignon. It’s a great way to be able to see the whole bridge.
We walk around this nice city and are impressed with the amount of old buildings and the great state they are still in. Avignon is a vibrant fun city and we have a nice time walking around. We had met John and Kathy at the campsite and said that if we would see each other in the city we would do coffee together. Just as we had given up, and went for a coffee ourselves, we saw them and had a great time chatting and having lunch.
Mont Ventoux
During our visit to the market in Villeneuves-lès-Avignon, we came across a guy that does mountain bike tours up the Mont Ventoux, and Marten decides to join. So we go to Bédoin the night before to be able to be at the spot before 8 am the next day.
The next morning really early, Marten joins the party of electric mountain bikes to go up the mountain. The group is all French, and the tour guide only speaks a little English, but Marten manages to understand the important parts. It helps that he is one of the best riders in the group. Unfortunately, because of technical failures at one of the bikes, they don’t get to the top but to halfway but it was still a very cool experience!
Meanwhile, Natalie has a chill day crocheting after driving the camper back to the campground and hooking everything up herself. After the tour, we have lunch at a restaurant with the French group, where Marten can try out all the French he has learned with DuoLingo!
Alpe d’Huez
We drive to another well-known mountain, the Alpe d’Huez, where we find 5-star campgrounds to rest after all our last few weeks’ adventures. The weather is not great, so we spend most of our time working, but the heated pool relaxes us.
We also ride a bike to the nearby village and enjoy the beauty of the surrounding mountains.
