In this video, we have a lovely time in Sweden. We receive fish from some nice Polish fishermen, and we visit an old military bunker on a Swedish island.
Swedish nature
We start the video by taking backroads through Swedish nature and driving over a lot of bumpy gravel roads. It cost us one of our wine bottles but gives us very pretty views. The first night we park at a campsite near a lake where Polish guys are fishing. They give us a lot of fresh fish to cook. The next day we park up in a small clearing in a forest where we have a nice quiet night wild camping. We make fish soup and dinner from that freshly caught fish.
Hemso Fastning
We went on a quick ferry to an island in the middle of the beautiful High Coast archipelago, a popular destination for tourists. Once there, we saw an ad for the Hemso Fastning and decided to check it out the next day.
This bunker was built during the 1950s as a defence against the Russians. The military installation was closed in the 90s after the end of the Cold war. We took a guided tour through the military base; the guide spoke Swedish and English so that we could understand it, and it was really interesting. The place is nice for kids, too as you can touch everything in the bunker, so they can really feel what it was like to be in this underground base.
No midnight sun, but still
Even though we are still under the arctic circle, and the sun still sets, it doesn’t really get dark anymore. We have hours and hours of sunset and sunrise. And because of this, we are losing track of time and going to bed later and later.
Hiking in Skuleskogen National Park
We met a lovely German family and decided to hike within Skuleskogen National Park with them. We drove up in the evening and had a barbecue before our hike the next day.
